Clinical pathways are standardized, evidence-informed care processes for defined conditions, procedures, or patient populations. They reduce unnecessary variation, clarify roles, support quality measurement, and improve coordination across settings. Pathways are most effective when clinicians help design them, exceptions are allowed for patient-specific needs, and performance data is used to improve the pathway over time.
